Following last year’s landmark UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Scotland, climate neutrality has rocketed to the top of the regulatory, corporate and ethical agenda for the industry players. Sustainability can no longer be seen as an ‘add-on’ but a net-zero target-reaching industry at its very core.
This series of DCD> Towards Net-Zero will focus on expert-led sessions discussing what sustainability means in the data center context.
Developing circular approaches to data center sustainability from the edge of the arctic circle
As we journey towards a net-zero future for digital infrastructure, a high-quality testbed environment for the ideation, development, testing and verification of new and sustainable data center technologies is essential to adoption at scale.
This case study will provide an overview of the new partnership between Vertiv and Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) as part of a data center testbed for the newest innovations in waste heat, alternative power, thermal management systems and beyond.

Partner’s panel: How will the E2P2 hydrogen project enable Europe's climate neutral data center goals by 2030?
In the quest for net-zero power generation, data center providers routinely deliberate on the best way to contribute to the ‘cleaning up’ grid-scale power and ‘green’ backup power and generation too. In 2021, the European Clean Hydrogen Partnership announced the €2.5 million EcoEdge PrimePower project (E2P2) to develop hydrogen fuel cells for data centers across Europe.
With involvement from consortium of members including colocation provider, Equinix, power equipment provider, Vertiv, along with eco-entrepreneurs, InfraPrime, can collaboration finally produce industry market buy-in for hydrogen?
This multi-partner case study will look at the future of hydrogen fuel cells and assess the ongoing battle for market and technological validation.
